Microsoft has sold 70 million Xbox 360s since its November 2005 launch, it announced last night.
1.7 million consoles were sold during the first quarter of the 2013 financial year – that is, during the period July to September 2012. That’s down 600,000 on the 2.3 million it sold during the same period last financial year.
The Xbox 360 has cemented second place in the three-horse console sales race. For comparison, Sony had sold 63.9 million PlayStation 3s as of the end of March 2012 and Nintendo had sold 96.56 million Wiis as of the end of June 2012.
Can’t believe its nearly seven years since i sat here like a big kid at xmas waiting for launch date!,and how i was blown away with such next gen graphics games King Kong,Call of duty 2 and NFS Most wanted.Seems a million years ago and to be fair the console is still holding up strong and im in no rush to see and Xbox 720.What will a new console bring to the table!,better graphics thats for sure, bigger memory, blueray player, but devs will still churn out the same old games for series like Halo,Fifa,Forza,COD etc etc – originality is what i liked about gaming back in the early 80’s because everything was exciting and new in gaming, but now just like films, music, and clothing its all been recycled.
You couldn’t beat xmas day sitting around the tv playing Jetpac or Horace goes Skiing ;-).
